ASC2N YouTube Going Dark on January 18th
If you haven’t heard by now, you probably never will, but much of the internet is going dark on January 18th in protest of the SOPA and PIPA bills before the US Congress right now. In order to stand not only with them but also with our parent site, GKick.net, all of the videos will be going dark on January 18th for 24 hours.
So basically, if you want to get your viewing in, do it now,...

ASC2N Special: Understanding the GSL Code S
So, if you’re like me, you may be new to watching the GSL group rounds and maybe don’t (or didn’t) fully understand how the group rounds are decided and who advances and who gets demoted. Well, I’m here to help!
First thing you need to understand is that the GSL is comprised of two leagues, Code S and Code A. Code S is for the best of the best, the major leagues if you...

Part 12: When To Ladder
Before I start today’s post, I just wanted to say hello to all of my new followers! I appreciate the follow and hope you enjoy what you read. Hopefully, if you’re new to the game, you’ll learn a thing or two along with me!
But anyway, as for the post, I wanted to take a look at playing the ladder. I think it’s safe to say that if you play SC2 multiplayer, you, at the very...

Putting Out a Call for Replays!
Hey fellow Bronze Leaguers! I’m talking to you!
Do you have replays from a Bronze League ladder game that left you wondering what you did wrong or where you messed up? Do you have questions on what you need to do in order to go from Bronze to Silver, or at least how to fare better in your own league?
I want to help! Despite being only Bronze myself, I’d like to think I have the...

Part 11: Scouting The Right Way
For many Bronze level players, when they first learn about Scouting, all they really understand about it is using a gatherer or other cheap unit to locate your enemy on a multi-spawn map. That’s the utmost basics of scouting. And don’t get me wrong, knowing WHERE your enemy is to start is very important, especially if you’re planning any kind of early pressure or harassment. But...

Part 10: Learning From Your Mistakes
If you’ve seen Episode 10 of my YouTube series, you’ll know that even as you get better, you’ll still have some pretty nasty losses, especially when you’re in the Bronze league level and you’re still learning your timings and mastering your awareness. In Episode 10, I took a look at a particularly brutal game in which I made some huge mistakes that cost me the game.

Part 9: Ladder Anxiety
Something that affects new players to StarCraft is a little thing called “ladder anxiety”. People, in general, when they start to experiment with something new that they want to be good at just want to be GOOD. Failure is a very, very hard thing to deal with for some people and folks can take it a lot harder than is honestly necessary.
Take me, for example. One of my old jobs was a...
Part 8: New Year, Same Mission
Happy New Year to one and all! My first post of 2012 and it’s only appropriate that it happens on the 1st day of the year. It has been a while since my latest update but I haven’t played as much as I’d like. Life is a bitch and the limited time I have has been used to watch SC2 streams, but I’ll be making more time for SC2 in the near future.
Today, however, I figured I...

Part 7: Practicing with Macro or Die
One of my last times online, I was pretty bummed due to a string of losses I was facing on the ladder. Basically, despite my best resource management, I just couldn’t stop losing. So, I turned to a friend of mine from the Bronze Battle League, one of the co-founders, VIPER. VIPER, if you don’t know, is a near-Diamond level Zerg player who I was introduced to on Twitter via Kitrini.

Adventures of a SC2 Noob: Advise for Fellow...
I assume if you’re reading this, you consider a newbie to the game of StarCraft. I’m writing this mainly to people who have yet to purchase the game, play any online matches or seek out any help with learning the game online.
The first thing I want to tell you, and I bet a thousand SC2 players can back me up on this, is that the StarCraft 2 community is one of the most friendly and...
Part 6: Experiments in Failure
So my current progression through the Bronze League has not been pretty. In fact, it’s been anything but. With only two official wins to my record, I’ve been finding myself getting hosed as a Terran on a regular basis. I see my mistakes and I try to react to them but it’s often too little, too late.
So, what does this mean? Am I just a bad Terran? Do I need more practice? Should...

Adventures of a StarCraft 2 Noob now has it's own...
Since I started recording videos, I’ve been uploading them onto the GKick Network channel since it was the only channel I had with 15+ minute uploads. Now that YouTube has changed their policies on how to get unlimited length uploads, I decided to create a YouTube channel exclusively for SC2 Noob!
Here’s a link to the new channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/sc2noobgkick

Part 5: Climbing the Ladder
So, I think the time is right.
And with the ok from my mentor, Hipster, I’ve decided that it’s time to move on from Practice League play where I’ll finish after 8 matches with a 6-2 record.
Oh yeah, that’s right, I played two more games I haven’t talked about yet.
Match 7 was a bit of a rough fight for me. A 37 minute match that basically resulted in me just...
